NetDev, the leading voice applications innovator based on the South Coast of England, today announced the opening of its Research and Development Centre in Cwmbran, South Wales. The new facility is the centre of product development and technology innovation, and will support NetDev’s continued growth as an applications provider to global network operators and communications service providers.
The R & D Centre, at Technium Springboard, Cwmbran, is staffed by four technical specialists with real-time telco applications experience, recruited from the local area. The team are responsible for evolving the Company’s portfolio of network enabled voice products and advanced web services. With continued Welsh Government support, the facility will grow over the coming months with plans to have the Centre fully staffed by the close of 2011.
Ieuan Wyn Jones, Minister for the Economy and Transport, welcomed the company’s decision to open an R&D base in Wales. “Information and Communications Technologies are a driving force in economic development and one of the key sectors identified in our Economic Renewal policy with potential for growth. In addition to being an important sector, the application of ICT drives productivity and competitiveness across the whole of the economy. “It is good news to hear that this innovative company was attracted to Wales because of the existing expertise and available talent and that its product development and technology innovation will be carried out in Wales where it plans to expand its activities.”

The new R&D Centre will maintain close links with NetDev’s Commercial Head Office in Brighton, East Sussex.
